Sony Vaio Picturebook

Decided to set this up as backup storage for my development websites. I was considering buying another Western Digital USB drive, but this little computer was lying around gathering dust..

It's the PCG-C1MGP and I've upped the memory to 384MB. Hardly enough to fire up KDE but for use as a backup machine it hardly matters.

OpenBSD is my OS of choice at home. It's easier and faster to install and configure than FreeBSD (which I use for production servers though). I find on these little laptops than I can start the install from CD using the Sony external i-link DVD drive, but it always fails to read the OpenBSD install sets. Easiest then to create and use a boot floppy, then configure wireless network, and finally install the sets using ftp. For connectivity I use an old 3com wireless PC card, but most others will work also.
