Property Website
I haven't had much time to post here recently as I've been working on a new website propquest.co.uk.
Using OpenBSD here with firefox (or opera) most new-fangled, bloated 'web 2.0' sites either never load or don't function properly in my browser.
So I've made my own lightweight property listing site. At least I'll be able to look at something myself! Speed is everything these days, so I've tried to follow my web performance best practices - no point preaching if I don't do it myself..
The main problem with real estate data here in the UK, is our complex postal code system, and the changes to counties and boroughs etc, which have taken place over many years. I've taken the scraped data to be correct for the first iteration - even so the estate agents do have errors themselves - one house I saw advertised here in Marylebone had been geo-coded by the agent to a location in Northern France! So the scraped data itself will have errors and I just do a quick fix in my processing as and when I actually see a problem. Seems to have worked OK so far.
